Van Morrison Sings His Grocery List

Butter darlin’, butter and eggs, oooo-oooo-weeee !
Chicken…wait a minute, wait a minute, I can see the chicken….in a faraway freezer.
Oh Lord, toma-a-a-atoes,
and lettuce ! Yes ! Yes ! A crispy head of lettuce….that’s right, that’s right.
Olive Oi-oil. Oh chi-ild, you’re so young……baby baby baby baby baby.
A pint of milk. A pint of milk. A pint of milk. A pint of milk. Milk, milk, milky, milky, milk. Lord have mercy, a pint of milk, pint of milk, pint of milk, pint of milk, pint of milk, pint of sweet milky milk, sailing to Caledonia, oh. A pint, pint, pint, pint of milk, pint of milk. A pint of milk……
….and a sweet round melon.
OH !!! ITS TOO LATE TO STOP NOW !!!!

That’s great! It actually reminds me of “Cleaning Windows,” one of my favorite-ever songs!
You just made a sad girl giggle. Your good deed for the day is done.
JY: That’s why I couldn’t have him sing his “to do” list. He’s already done it.
E: Thanks you for finally recognizing the humanitarian work done here at Anandamide. I’m going to start telling people I run a “non-profit”.
Hope you feel better.
It stoned me, bro.
to your soul? just like jelly roll?
I like the part about the round melon….
That is so weird. I was just listening to TB Sheets. You’re freaking me out man. YOU’RE FREAKING ME OUT!
PE: Apparently Van liked the melon too….
CS: Remember, the cool room is a fools room !!!
He’s very talented.
Like they say, some people can sing the phone book. In fact I think Yes put out a triple album in the 70’s called “Tales from Scandinavian Phone Books”.
[...] couple of days ago someone sent me the satirical Van Morrison Sings His Grocery List, and following some of the links there led me to some great quotes. These were quotes from someone [...]
This reminds me of the old SNL skit with Dana Carvey singing “Chopping Broccoli”
It’s like they always say “there’s no muse quite as inspiring as vegetables”.
They do say that, don’t they?
Quite lovely!
I look forward to a making-of special for this list, perhaps airing on VH1.
“we were really struggling early on. the band wasn’t getting along and there were no songs. and then van appeared with this list, like moses descending from mount sinai with the ten commandments, and suddenly it all made sense. from there it just flowed….”
My favorite food song is Barnes and Barnes’ “Fish heads”.
Truly, some of my greatest memories revolve around doing something while humming this song.
It reminds me of when my brother’s friend killed my brother’s hamster by crushing it in his hand.
Brilliant. The bit about olive oil got me.
