Cliff’s Notes: Rolling Stone Interview With Keith Richards and Johnny Depp (May, 2007).

These two cultural icons were recently interviewed together. This interview just happened to coincide with the release of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” in which they both appear. For those of you who missed this seminal, hard-hitting interview, Cliff’s Notes offers this summary.

Interviewer: Keith, you are cool, like a pirate.

Keith: Yes, that’s true.

Interviewer: Johnny, do you agree that Keith is cool like a pirate and, if so, has his coolness influenced you?

Johnny: Yes, Keith is cool like a pirate and I am trying to be cool in the same way.

Interviewer: Keith, is Johnny cool like a pirate?

Keith: Yes, Johnny is cool like a pirate, but not as cool as me.

Johnny: That’s true, I’m not as cool as Keith.

Interviewer: Keith, being a rock star is just like being a pirate, right?

Interviewer: So you’re, like, the ultimate Rock n Roll pirate, right?

    Cleek,

You better pray you never find yourself sailing the high seas with your hold full of drugs and vintage guitars.

There’s more to being a pirate than looking cool with bad teeth.

Not much more, but still…there’s more.

And from where I sits, Geoffrey Rush out-cooled and out-pirated them both. But where’s the love?

What a great cover. That’s so sweet of Johnny to hold Keith up like that.

It STILL went over my head.

I mean.. is Keith… as cool as a pirate? Also, if Keith is as cool as a pirate, is Johnny also… as cool as a pirate?

The Cliff’s Notes needs a Cliff’s Notes. Gah.

yea geoffrey rush was a pretty cool pirate, and i think that johnny was way cooler than keith was..just my opinion
and i didn’t really like this interview that much because it became confusing with both of them interviewing at the same time, and also the interviewer was kinda annoying

also just because keith did drugs doesn’t mean that you’re going to end up the same way as him, one unlucky joint or huff or whatever and you’re dead….lead your own life don’t just copy other’s lives..do something good for yourself, have some respect for yourself

jacksbonnielass: while i agree that one unlucky joint could spell curtains, i couldn’t disagree more about copying other’s lives. i’ve spent the last 30 years asking myself “what would erik estrada do” and he’s never lead me astray.
